Timnath Colorado is small community east of Fort Collins with easy access to I-25, the large corridor running south to Denver and Colorado Springs and north to the border. Situated on the Cache la Poudre River, Timnath is primarily an agricultural town. Throughout the years the community has raised potatoes, alfalfa, hay, corner, grains, and sugar beets and remains true to its quiet, down-to-earth roots. Livestock is another important industry here. In the early 1900s, Timnath was known as the sheep-feeding center of the world, and was later home to a railroad depot that enjoyed daily service daily from trains heading to cow towns Greeley and Fort Collins.
While visitor services are limited in Timnath, the rural area is worth exploring on a leisurely Sunday drive. Those on motorcycles will enjoy a lively biker-friendly restaurant in downtown. History buffs can stroll through the tiny downtown, which contains a few businesses, a quaint church, and a post office.
Nearby recreational areas include the Timnath Reservoir, which is popular destination for fishing and bird watching. Other watering holes include Fossil Creek Reservoir and Windsor Lake, in addition to the meandering Poudre River. Other attractions in the vicinity include Fort Collins' downtown pedestrian mall and the art community of Loveland. |
